Why Update?

Guidebook publishing is slow!

Often, nine months or even a year will pass between an author’s research trip and the book finally reaching store shelves. In that time, restaurants close, hotels change management and buses get rerouted–potentially leaving guidebook readers hungry, sleepless or stranded…and cursing the guidebook author’s name.

So this update site is an attempt to stave off travel disasters. While the updates I post here are far from thorough, they at least go a little way toward making your trip smoother. I gather information when I go back to Mexico a couple of times a year, and from reading local newspapers. Sometimes hotel owners and friends write in to let me know some news.

You can help too! Please send me an email and let me know about any major changes you encountered on your trip, and I’ll post them here for other readers to benefit from.
